Wanda Sykes touring, filming and raising awareness

Wanda Sykes is a busy, busy lady these days, including a new late-night show in the works, a stand-up comedy tour, and working on social issues.

Sykes announced in April of 2009 that she is developing a late-night talk show for FOX.  The one-hour show will debut in the Fall of 2009 and will include commentary on current issues and panel discussions with recurring personalities.

She has several tour dates in the works, including two stops in Texas July 11th and 12, as well as a two-night stint at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC, on August 21st and 22nd.  In September, she will perform at Humphreys Concert by the Bay in San Diego, Calif.

As a gay woman, Sykes has recently come out against Proposition 8, the legislation banning gay marriage in California.  She has been an outspoken opponent of the legislation, using her celebrity to call attention to the issue, along with many other big Hollywood names.

In addition to her commitments, Sykes has been racking up the accolades - she was ranked as one of Entertainment Weekly’s “25 Funniest People in America,” and she scored a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for her special “Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired.”
